Spiritual Family

The Congregation has now three branches which make up The Daughters of the Holy Spirit Family;

  1. Apostolic Religious

  2. Consecrated Seculars

  3. Associates

AS APOSTOLIC RELIGIOUS

We are women who listen together to the Spirit and commit ourselves to serve our God and humankind through our public vows of poverty, consecrated celibacy and obedience.

We are women who pray, share our lives in community and who serve wherever the Spirit calls. We often make our homes in close proximity to those to whom we minister.

We are women who hold our resources in common and discern how to use what we have to glorify our generous God and to assist those whom we are missioned to serve.

We are women who are deeply concerned about Mother Earth and all of Creation. We dare to stand together in favor of justice and non-violence and to denounce publicly all that negatively impacts life.

PREPARING FOR A LIFE AS A DAUGHTER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Preparing for a life commitment as a Daughter of the Holy Spirit consists of 5 distinct stages over a several year period (refer to Formation page).

  1. Aspirancy

  2. Postulancy

  3. Noviciate

  4. Period of Temporary Commitment

  5. Perpetual Vows

DHS: IMPELLED BY THE SPIRIT TO ACT AND PROCLAIM PEACE IN GOSPEL BOLDNESS

AS CONSECRATED SECULARS

“Living in the Spirit at the heart of the world”

Since 1994 the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit offers the option of living their charism as members of the Secular Branch known as Consecrated Seculars.  As such we

  • are single women listening to the Spirit calling us to live our baptismal promises more fully through our unique vowed –poverty, celibacy, obedience – consecration

  • live simply, sharing with one another and with those in need

  • have the daily opportunity to open ourselves joyfully to the presence of the Holy Spirit moving in the world, in our families, at work and at play

  • pray in an attitude of gratitude and love, embracing the life, the concerns and the hopes of the people among whom we live

  • have members in the USA, France and South America.

We are always welcoming new members.  Please free to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

AS DHS ASSOCIATES

Associates are women and men – lay and clergy, married and single, of all denominations – who seek to live out their baptismal call to holiness, in the Spirit of Pentecost DHS Associates, with members in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Australia form an international body, linked to the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.

Associates are persons who “feel at home” with the spirituality of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit (DHS). Associates sense a call to live the Spirit’s mission of love and life, and to devote themselves to the poor, the disadvantaged and the oppressed.

Associates are linked to the Daughters of the Holy Spirit through a mutual covenant expressed in a simple ceremony. They enter into a close spiritual relationship and a sharing of gifts with the DHS extended Consecrated Seculars and Associates.

What do Associates do?

Associates strive to cooperate with the action of the Spirit in leading faith-filled lives. They promote the cause of the poor, the young, and the disadvantaged. Thus, while the individual Associates develop and deepen their own spirituality they become a leaven and a witness to the Spirit wherever they are. Associates meet regularly to reflect together on practical ways of living the DHS Mission. Relationships among members of the DHS family are fostered through various local, regional, and province gatherings. Through their mutual covenants) both Associates and the Sisters are enriched, affirmed and challenged on their own journeys in the Spirit’s Mission of, love in the world.
